In mathematics, the rule that minus times minus equals plus is based on the concept of multiplication as repeated addition. When we multiply a negative number by another negative number, we are essentially adding the opposite of the negative number multiple times, which results in a positive value. On the other hand, when we multiply two positive numbers, we are essentially adding the positive number multiple times, which results in a positive value as well. Therefore, the rule that minus times minus equals plus is consistent with the principles of multiplication, while the idea of plus times plus equaling minus does not align with these principles. **

In mathematics, the rule that minus times minus equals plus is based on the concept of multiplication as repeated addition. When we multiply a negative number by another negative number, we are essentially adding the opposite of the negative number multiple times, which results in a positive product. On the other hand, when we multiply two positive numbers, we are essentially adding the positive number multiple times, which always results in a positive product. Therefore, plus times plus will always equal a positive number, not a negative one. **
